1922 - Floyd Emhoff founds Emoff Greenhouses at 1345 South Fort, in Springfield, Missouri. Floyd sold wholesale direct from the greenhouse, and operated a truck garden.
1946 - Floyd sells the business to Gus and Frances Wickman, who change the name to Wickman Gardens.
1947 - Operations expand to include a retail flower shop.
1964 - Nursery and landscape operations begin, and truck garden operations are discontinued.
1965 - First self-serve garden center opens.
1972 - Glenn and Donna Kristek purchase business from the Wickman’s. Glenn first became acquainted with the business when he started working at Wickman’s in 1959 as a student as SMSU, and became part owner upon graduating with an Agriculture degree.
1979 - The Saltbox Gift Shop opens, managed by Donna Kristek.
1987 - Donna opens the In-House Boutique.
2000 - The greenhouse is officially now a village. The business includes a FTD flower shop, a garden center, a tropical plant greenhouse, gift shop, fashion boutique, as well as a landscape and nursery operation.
Today, Wickman's Garden Village offers landscape design services, as well as custom residential and commercial landscaping and irrigation. The garden center handles a variety of fountains, statuary, garden furniture, décor and an excellent selection of high end pottery. The flower shop offers made-to-order gift baskets, silk arrangements and fresh flowers.
Garden enthusiasts find plenty of items to practice their green thumb on with Wickman's wide variety of perennials, indoor plants and nursery filled with trees and shrubs. Wickman's offers a high quality inventory, and the greenhouse grows its own bedding plants from seed and cuttings.
